    After 17 years of being called Facebook, the social networking parent company behind Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus has a new name. Facebook’s corporate entity is now Meta. Facebook had been laying the groundwork for this change for months, seemingly in an effort to move its core branding further from the negative headlines surrounding its most popular product.

    Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger have all gone down in a huge global outage. The issues appear to have been caused by a Domain Name Server (DNS) failure. Facebook said it was aware of the issues and was “working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.

    Why LinkedIn changed their tech stack

    LinkedIn switched to using open source software and the Hadoop ecosystem. LinkedIn previously used third party proprietary platforms for their data analytics tech stack. This approach led to scaling problems and made it hard to evolve the systems. LinkedIn engineers developed a new data lake (data lakes let you contain raw data without having to structure it) in parallel.

Dorsey has criticized the idea that web3 will be decentralized (as opposed to Web 2.0, which was centralized in the hands of large platforms and social networks), claiming that we do not own web3.
