<p>Facebook is a great example of how NOT to do adaptive bitrate streaming. The theory is valid, but the encoding is simply broken and any streamer knows it: you can do a live stream or upload a 4K 60FPS video, and what does Facebook do? It compresses it to various resolutions to suit various devices and bandwidth, but it does it in the rough way, losing much of the detail and making your video horrible. So yeah, you optimized something but now videos are awful on every device.</p>
