    an open-source GitHub Copilot server

    FauxPilot is an attempt to build a locally hosted version of GitHub Copilot. It uses the SalesForce CodeGen models inside of NVIDIA's Triton Inference Server with the FasterTransformer backend. If you have two NVIDIA RTX 3080 GPUs, you should be able to run the 6B model by putting fauxpilot-triton-1. The container image is governed by the NVIDIA Deep Learning Container License. Don't use it.

    Typescipt is terrible for library developers

    library developers are shifting complexity from end-developers to library developers. As a library developer, typescript sucks for library developers, but at the end of the day it reduces developer productivity. The only tool that I know library developers use is the Typescript playground so they can isolate discrete parts of their type logic to figure.

    Stable Diffusion is a really big deal

    Stable Diffusion is a new ‘text-to-image diffusion model’ that was released to the public by Stability.ai six days ago. You can download and run the model on your own computer (if you have a powerful enough graphics card) You can use it for commercial and non-commercial purposes, I’m personally more concerned with the morality.

    Time Till Open Source Alternative

    The average TTOSA for the cases I measured is 7 years, and that seems like plenty of time for a business to be profitable with proprietary software. For instance, take BitKeeper (proprietary) versus Git (open source) Anyone who is a developer today knows what Git is, whileBitKeeper is just a small anecdote in Git's history.

    In software development, the silent majority are the engineers who write the code, debug the programs, and solve the complex issues behind the scenes. Not everyone is willing to do the work just to bring their opinions to the masses. It also takes confidence — whenever you voice an opinion on the internet, there will always be people who have an opposite one.

    A pizzeria owner made money buying his own $24 pizzas from DoorDash for $16

    The only profitable restaurant delivery business, GrubHub, lost $33.4 million over the last 3 months. If these businesses collapse, as Uber is currently collapsing, I can't imagine that customers won’t go back to how things were before, assuming restaurants et alia survive.
