    A new set of APIs give your browser the power to control CSS via its own Object Model in Javascript. This means that you can make custom CSS styles, add custom properties, and so on. The CSS Paint Worklet5 allows you to 'paint' on an element, and have the browser treat it as an image in CSS.

    Google Search Is Dying

    Reddit is currently the most popular search engine. The only people who don't know that are the team at Reddit, who can’t be bothered to build a decent search interface. The long answer is that most of the web has become too inauthentic to trust. Google is no longer producing high quality search results in a significant number of important categories.

    Why is LinkedIn so cringe?

    The LinkedIn newsfeed is full of cringe-worthy content. The site’s setup forces everyone on the site to wear the professional “CV mask” LinkedIn is basically tied to your identity and your identity is tied directly to your resume. I think the cringe is due to 3 factors: The personality, what LinkedIn asks you to be and the customer.

    I quit my job to make free web tools. Of all the side projects I've done over the years, most failed, with only two standing the test of time. I'm optimistic that it should be possible to grow to €4000 ($4600) revenue with €3000 ($3450) pre-tax profit.

    Recruiters are just cold calling. They don’t care who you are — you’re just 10% of your first year’s salary. The obvious adaptive response that I suspect the vast majority of us use is to roll our eyes and ignore them. No one ever explained to me that recruiters are also one of the best career resources you can find. Who better to be completely honest with about what you want from your career?

    Why I Quit Shopify After Five Months

    I decided to start interviewing for Senior Frontend Engineer positions in the Summer of 2021. During the process, I had interviews with a FANG-ish company, an early-stage startup, and Shopify. Most of the interview questions were frontend (React) focused. I received bittersweet news in late August that I did get an offer but I'd be downleveled from senior to mid.

    Postman Now Supports gRPC

    Postman now supports gRPC. Postman v9.7.1 and above is currently in open beta. The API platform also understands WebSockets, Socket.IO, and GraphQL. In the future, we hope to provide these same features for other API schemas, like OpenAPI.

    GIFs have an optional "delay" value which determines how long that frame should be shown before moving on to the next one. The value can be set from 0 (no delay) to 0xffff (roughly a 10 minute delay) None of the programs that you'd typically be viewing GIFs with support 0 delay.
