RADV Radeon Vulkan driver developers at Valve are exploring expanded per-game tuning and optimization capabilities within Mesa drivers. Currently, DriConf is mainly used for bug workarounds rather than performance optimizations. The team wants to extend DriConf to support GPU architecture-specific profiles and introduce more robust per-game performance tweaks, similar to what Windows graphics drivers already do. Shader replacement and tuning by drivers is also being considered. These are early-stage discussions tracked in a Mesa GitLab issue, but Valve's financial backing makes substantive progress likely.
