The RADV Mesa Vulkan driver now supports low-latency video encode and decode options for AMD Video Core Next (VCN) GPUs. Developers can enable these modes via environment variables: RADV_PERFTEST=lowlatencydec for decode, RADV_PERFTEST=lowlatencyenc for encode, or both combined. The trade-off is higher GPU power consumption in exchange for reduced video latency. This feature was merged into Mesa Git and is targeting the Mesa 26.1 release in Q2.
