The RADV Mesa Vulkan driver for AMD Radeon GPUs has become the first Mesa Vulkan driver to implement VK_EXT_primitive_restart_index, a new Vulkan extension introduced in Vulkan 1.4.348. The extension allows setting a custom primitive restart index and is designed to aid OpenGL emulation on top of Vulkan, particularly for the Zink OpenGL-on-Vulkan driver. The implementation was done by Samuel Pitoiset of Valve's Linux graphics team and landed in Mesa 26.1. Similar implementations for Lavapipe and Intel's ANV driver are still under review.
