Intel's new shader compiler codenamed 'Jay' has been merged into Mesa 26.1-devel. It is designed as a modern SSA-based replacement for the existing 'BRW' shader compiler, targeting Intel Skylake Gen9 and newer GPUs on Linux, supporting both the ANV Vulkan and Iris Gallium3D drivers. While still experimental and not ready for end-user use, early results are promising: conformance test suite runs dropped from 19.91 seconds with BRW to 7.00 seconds with Jay, and the compiler generates better code expected to improve Intel Linux graphics performance and reduce game/application load times.
