Attaining excessive freedom and wealth can lead to unexpected existential crises. Many people, including startup founders and retirees, struggle to find meaning when freed from the responsibilities and obligations they once had. The notion that material success or unlimited free time would bring happiness is often challenged by the reality of emptiness that can follow.

Delusional dreams of excess freedom

There are likely many studies on this phenomenon at this point. Better to have a part-time job or a “full time hobby” in your retirement than to sit around and do nothing. It can literally kill you to do nothing. How’s that for irony?

Something important this post doesn’t mention is that it’s totally normal and human to feel like you lack a meaning, there is no answer to the meaning of life. If you find yourself in such a position try to improve it by trying as many different things as possible and stick with the one that make you feel less miserable, or maybe, dare I say it, happy

Yeah, sure, life without purpose and direction is quite miserable for anyone. However, hearing this from a multimillionaire is such blatant hypocrisy. While most people have to work 260+ days giving away a significant portion of their income to taxes and rent, those wealthy kids have a choice: donate to charity, fund another project, spend time with their families, etc. Instead, they like to selfishly complain about material possessions not inherently capable of bringing them happiness, bruh, go touch some grass and help others
