Blender 5.0 brings significant improvements including enhanced Vulkan viewport support across different GPUs and drivers, HDR and wide color gamut support on Linux with Vulkan and Wayland, animation enhancements, and a community-contributed human base mesh bundle. The release also includes rewritten curves drawing, larger buffer support in Blend files, improved file format handling with Zstd replacing LZO and LZMA for point caches, and stable AMD HIP-RT support (enabled by default in 5.1).
