    :has() Has Landed in Safari

    Safari Technology Preview includes support for the :has() pseudo-class. It allows us to style an element based on its descendants. Bramus uses it in his post to show or hide a warning message. He’s also experimenting with form styling, including styling labels based on the validity of their inputs.

    Safari isn't protecting the web, it's killing it

    Safari's approach isn't protecting the web from bloat & evil Google influence. Most features that Safari hasn't implemented have no hint of security, privacy or performance concerns, and they've been implemented in every other browser already. The largest Safari complaint is unrelated to experimental features from the Chrome team: it's the showstopping bugs in implemented features.

    Apple blogger John Gruber suggested web developers “should not be trying to create a ‘native like app’ in a web browser’ Gruber said this in relation to increasing criticism of Apple for not allowing competing browser engines on its iOS platform. By forcing browser vendors like Google, Microsoft and Mozilla to use the WebKit browser engine, Apple is deliberately restricting the functionality of web apps.
