    Copilot works so well because it steals open source code and strips credit

    The Software Freedom Conservancy announced its withdrawal from GitHub today. The SFC is upset that Microsoft and OpenAI trained an AI system called Copilot on data that was published under an open-source license. The only way to get access to Copilot is through a special invitation from Microsoft or paid subscription.

The Software Freedom Conservancy (SFC) joined Free Software Foundation in a recommendation to cut ties with GitHub over the creation of GitHub Copilot.

    Microsoft is a Linux and open source company

    In 2001 then CEO Steve Ballmer declared: "Linux is a cancer" Microsoft sponsored SCO's copyright attack on Linux; claimed that Linux violated unnamed Microsoft patents. Bill Gates and Ballmer's Microsoft wanted to see Linux and open-source software (OSS) dead and buried.

    Microsoft released an AI-based tool for writing soft­ware called Git­Hub Copilot. As a lawyer and 20+ year partic­i­pant in the world of open-source soft-ware, I agree with those who consider Copilot to be primarily an engine for violating open- source licenses.

    JavaScript is not particularly performant. It has a lack of a rich set of base class libraries. There are layers and layers of dependencies deep in the bowels of your code. Because of the nature of JavaScript, it creates these scenarios where vulnerabilities and even malware can be introduced to your code!

    Teams is KILLING my Mac Every Day

    Teams is murdering my MacBook Pro 16" i9 with 16GB RAM every day. It causes serious lags and randomly decides when it wants to share the screen successfully. Other times, it just shows screen but no audio or vice versa. It's infuriating and I've lost my patience!
