    Flutter 2.5 was released. Here are the highlights in brief!

    Flutter 2.5 is out with 4600 closed issues and 3932 merged PRs. Performance Improvements on iOS iOS has less jank, consumes less CPU and power, and is more performant now. iOS 8 support is deprecated. IntelliJ/Android Studio Run integration tests support. New ability to preview icons.

    Developers appear to be losing interest in macOS

    In 2020, developers released 392 apps on average per month for the Mac. In 2021, that’s dropped to 343 per month. Appfigures isn’t too optimistic about the outlook going forward. Apple itself last year said that it receives more than 100,000 apps or app updates per week for iOS.

    Apple’s Browser Engine Ban Is Holding Back Web App Innovation – The New Stack

    Apple blogger John Gruber suggested web developers “should not be trying to create a ‘native like app’ in a web browser’ Gruber said this in relation to increasing criticism of Apple for not allowing competing browser engines on its iOS platform. By forcing browser vendors like Google, Microsoft and Mozilla to use the WebKit browser engine, Apple is deliberately restricting the functionality of web apps.
