    Google launches a GitHub Copilot competitor to GitHub’s Copilot, a chat tool for asking questions about coding and Google Cloud services. At the core of virtually all of these new code completion and code generation tools is Codey. Google Cloud will use Codey to help developers manage all of their services on Google Cloud.

    Apple bans use of ChatGPT internally for internal use. Apple also banned GitHub's automated coding tool, Copilot, as well. Apple joins an ever-growing list of companies like Amazon and a number of banks including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup and Deutsche Bank.

    With Project Tailwind, Google aims to make note-taking smarter

    The goal, Google says, is to take a user’s freeform notes and automatically organize and summarize them. To use Tailwind, users pick files from Google Drive. Tailwind then creates a private AI model with expertise in that information, along with a personalized interface designed to help sift through the notes and docs.

    Google is replacing Chrome’s misleading lock icon

    Google announced Tuesday that the lock icon will be replaced by a new ‘tune’ icon with the release of Chrome 117 in September. The new tune icon isn’t getting any additional features otherwise and will continue to mark plaintext HTTP (few as they may be) as insecure on all platforms.

The way our social login works is that it’s just an email matcher. You don’t have to remember which social service you used to sign up with or anything like that.
