Zlib-rs, a Rust-based implementation of the Zlib compression library, has reached version 0.6 with a stable and complete API. Since its initial release in April 2024, the project has achieved feature completeness and crossed 30 million downloads, with 25 million in the past year alone. The implementation delivers memory safety while maintaining performance parity with C/C++ counterparts, and is expected to become the default implementation in the flate2 crate.
