Zanskar raised $115 million to find conventional geothermal resources using AI-powered exploration techniques. The startup believes conventional geothermal could generate up to 1 terawatt of power, far exceeding DOE estimates of 60 gigawatts by 2050. Using supervised machine learning and Bayesian evidential learning, Zanskar has successfully identified three sites with over 100 megawatts of combined capacity and has a pipeline supporting at least 1 gigawatt. The company focuses on finding the 95% of geothermal systems that lack surface indicators like hot springs or volcanoes.

Zanskar thinks 1 TW of geothermal power is being overlooked
