YouTube is introducing engagement-aware ad suppression for livestreams, automatically pausing ads when chat activity spikes to avoid interrupting peak viewer moments. Viewers who purchase Super Chats, Super Stickers, or virtual gifts now receive a personal ad-free window after their transaction. The platform is also expanding virtual gifting to six new markets (Canada, South Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand), enabling simultaneous vertical and horizontal dual-streaming with a unified chat, and planning additional Live Studio customization tools. These moves come as YouTube Gaming climbs to 24% of the gaming livestream market while Twitch falls to 54%, and Kick grows 131% year-on-year, intensifying competition for creator loyalty and viewer attention.
