YouTube is expanding its AI-powered likeness detection technology to the entertainment industry, including talent agencies like CAA, UTA, and WME, and the celebrities they represent. Similar to the existing Content ID system for copyright, this tool scans uploaded videos for AI-generated deepfakes of enrolled individuals' faces. Detected matches allow the person to request video removal for privacy violations, submit a copyright claim, or take no action. Parody and satire content is exempt. Audio detection support is planned for the future. YouTube is also backing the NO FAKES Act at the federal level to regulate unauthorized AI recreations of individuals' voices and likenesses.
