Your Windows update experience just got updated

Microsoft is rolling out several improvements to the Windows Update experience based on user feedback. Key changes include: the ability to skip updates during initial device setup (OOBE), extended and unlimited pause controls with a calendar picker (up to 35 days, re-pausable indefinitely), a redesigned Power menu that always shows plain Restart/Shut down options separate from update-specific actions, and clearer driver update titles with device class labels. Additionally, Microsoft is unifying driver, .NET, and firmware updates to align with the monthly quality update cycle, aiming to reduce restarts to once per month. Background improvements include faster update downloads, automatic recovery from installation failures, and faster app restoration after restarts.
