You already come to daily.dev every day. You read posts, upvote the good stuff, drop comments, bookmark things you’ll “definitely read later.” But until now, none of that effort earned you anything tangible.
That changes today.
<h2>Introducing Quests</h2>
We built a challenge system that rewards your daily habits. Complete quests, claim rewards, and level up your profile.
Here’s what’s new:
<ul>
<li>Daily Quests: Fresh challenges every day. Read a post, upvote something you like, leave a comment and many more simple actions with rewards attached.</li>
<li>Weekly Quests: Bigger challenges that reset each week. These take a bit more commitment but come with heftier rewards.</li>
<li>Milestone Quests: The long game. Hit major platform milestones and earn the biggest payouts. These can be found in the <a href="https://app.daily.dev/game-center" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Game Center.</a></li>
</ul>
<h2>XP, Levels and Cores</h2>
Every quest you complete and claim earns you XP. Your total XP determines your level, displayed in the navbar as a number. The more quests you claim, <a href="https://app.daily.dev/users/highestLevel" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">the higher you climb</a>.
Completing quests also earn you Cores, which are the virtual currency on daily.dev. Use them to award posts, comments and users, boost posts, and unlock premium features.
<h2>How it works</h2>
Quests rotate automatically. Check in daily to see what quests are available!
When a quest is done, hit the claim button to collect your XP and Cores.

<h2>Where to find it</h2>
Click the new button in the navbar. It will open up a dropdown showing you both the daily and weekly quests!

Staying up to date is way more exciting now

Meh… Gamification is good sometimes, but tbh <a href="http://daily.dev" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">daily.dev</a> is getting very noisy (cf attached screenshot).
There’s like a gazillion shapes, colours, notifications and words on the default page of my browser, which is extremely distracting.
IMO, capturing attention through gamification and making users “grind” for rewards isn’t really aligned with what one would expect from this kind of platform.
