SteamOS is promising for home theater PC gaming but isn't yet ready for broad hardware support. In the meantime, Bazzite (a Linux-based OS with Steam Gaming Mode and Decky Loader) offers a near-console couch gaming experience with minimal setup, though it has known Nvidia GPU issues and struggles with anti-cheat games. Windows 11 remains a solid fallback, especially for titles requiring third-party anti-cheat. Once Valve expands SteamOS hardware support, it will likely become the definitive HTPC gaming OS.
