You Can't Feel Wet

Humans lack direct wetness receptors and instead perceive wetness through temperature change, since water conducts heat 23 times faster than air. This is why 15°C water feels colder than 15°C air, and why a latex glove still feels wet underwater. Insects, however, evolved microscopic hairs that physically deform in the presence of moisture, giving them a true direct sense of wetness that humans don't have.
