Microsoft is launching its Loop public preview. Loop is a Notion-like project and task management hub with a futuristic Loop components feature.

Microsoft is now letting anyone preview Microsoft Loop, a collaborative hub offering a new way of working across Office apps and managing tasks and projects. The main interface looks a lot like Notion, a workspace app that is used by Adobe, Figma, Amazon, and many other businesses. Loop pages are like blank canvases where people can share and collaborate.

I’d trust Microsoft with a service like this, like I’d trust Google building/buying an RSS reader. #nothanks

The article itself is just a quick comparison between Notion and the new Microsoft’s tool but it doesn’t clearly point out the differences or similarities, just describes both.
I went a step further and “wasted” my time to try out Loop as a person who repeatedly squishes thoughts into Notion on a daily basis since half a year.
Why I feel like I’ve spent my time wastefully? Well, first glance at Loop and I feel like in a demo or signed-out-try-me-for-free Notion app. It’s literally the same experience minus multitude of features and labour-saving components.
Loop offers, for example, right click on a selected portion of a text to format it and here we are given only basic text-editing options like alignment, color or font size. No possibility to transform the selected part to something else than text.
The “get inspired” section from sidebar gave me very few options to see what this tool can do (or was it all to offer?). The most parts of examples was table within “page” or emojis next to some paragraphs.
To sum this short experience up - I’d say that Loop feels unpolished and created by a single developer after hours as a side-project, not by a multi-billion company. Also, I’ve got a unnerving feeling of being observed or tracked as it’s a huge company that lives off of gathering big data about users. After Microsoft “killed” Todoist app, I think that this is yet another tool that we can find couple of on the market and doesn’t bring nothing new to the table.

Not a chance 💀 Good luck trying to build a tasteless and useless copycat of Notion, the product that many love!

My only issue with Microsoft is the amount of spyware and telemetry they put in their software.
