Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has appointed industry analyst Matthew Ball as chief strategy officer and Scott Van Vliet — a former Azure AI infrastructure VP with Amazon experience — as chief technology officer. Ball, known for his annual gaming industry reports and metaverse book, has already been advising Xbox on strategy. Van Vliet will focus on improving the product development pipeline. Chris Schnakenberg was also promoted to corporate VP of partnerships and business development. These hires are part of an ongoing leadership restructure aimed at improving execution and positioning Xbox for the future, with no changes planned to hardware, Project Helix, or the console OS teams.
