UIKit has many enhancements in iOS 18 including new key features and UI improvements, integrations between UIKit and SwiftUI, and general enhancements and API additions. The launch experience for document-based apps has been redesigned, tab bars have visual updates and a new combined sidebar experience, and there are new fluid transitions across the system. There are also updates to animations and gesture recognizers, improvements to the trait system, updates to collection and tableview APIs, enhancements to SF Symbols and symbol animations, support for sensory feedback, expanded text formatting capabilities, and additions to menu actions and Apple Pencil integration.
