The renovation goes mostly well, but a final WTF emerges: the new thermostat silently switches to the heat pump (which isn't yet configured) when temperatures rise above 40°F, leaving the house without heat on a cold weekend. A sales rep eventually connects her with a technician who resolves the issue with a simple emergency heat mode toggle. The AI answering service had been widely complained about and the company decided to drop it.
