WP Engine is not the same as WordPress. WP Engine disables the revisions feature to save costs, compromising the integrity and protection of users' content, which is a core promise of WordPress. Customers should demand WP Engine enable revisions or consider other hosting options that respect WordPress's standards.

I found the article by Matt somewhat misleading. WPEngine doesn’t enable Revisions by default because of performance issues along with certain plugins that typically have either MySQL performance issues or basically fill up tables with millions of rows. However, you have the ability to turn Revisions on with a limited number which is more than sufficient for most sites. And don’t forget that WPEngine does nightly back-ups and on-demand back-ups. I don’t see how that compromises users content when its all there at your fingertips.

I agree with you… By the way, 4 years ago I started convincing people to get away from WPEngine and suggested they use servers where they have full control…

In our country hosting costs about 5€ a month for decent hosting, much faster than 1&amp;1 or Strato. I dont understand why one should start using <a href="http://wordpress.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">wordpress.com</a> or wpengine in the first place?
