Sam Altman's World (formerly WorldCoin) has launched a limited beta of AgentKit, a system that ties AI agents to verified human identities using iris-scan-based World IDs. Built as an extension to Coinbase's x402 protocol, AgentKit lets World ID holders cryptographically delegate their identity to AI agents, aiming to prevent spam, scalping, and other agentic AI abuse. With only 18 million users signed up and WorldCoin's token down 76% since 2023, the pivot to AI agent identity verification appears to be World's bid for relevance in the agentic AI era.
