WordPress.com is enabling AI agents to draft, edit, publish, and manage content on customer websites via natural language commands. Built on MCP (Model Context Protocol) support introduced last fall, the feature lets AI clients like Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT connect to WordPress.com to create posts, landing pages, manage comments, fix metadata, and organize tags and categories. All changes require user approval and AI-written posts default to draft status. The move could significantly lower the barrier to running websites while raising questions about machine-generated content proliferating across the web, given WordPress powers over 43% of all internet sites.
