Blender's development team completed a focused quality initiative during winter 2025-2026, fixing over 350 reported bugs across 14 modules. Beyond bug fixes, developers tackled technical debt, modernized C++ code, improved performance in animation and rendering systems, added automated tests across multiple modules, and reduced untriaged reports from 90+ to ~20. Major work included removing legacy animation code, refactoring the compositor for reusable node trees, transitioning mesh attributes to a new storage format, and cleaning up the Video Sequence Editor codebase.
