Metabase announced the two winners of its AI Hackathon, held to celebrate open-sourcing all AI features in Metabase. The first winner, Meta Chess by Marat Surmashev, uses the Metabase MCP server as a message bus between Claude and Codex AI agents playing chess, with the entire game platform built as a file-based dashboard using YAML cards and the serialization v2 API. The second winner, Claude's Advice by Owais Mumtaz, is a nightly automated task that reads 60 days of personal fitness data via the MCP server and writes actionable advice back to a personal dashboard chart. Both projects showcase Metabase's MCP server and file-based development features in creative, practical ways.
