Windows 11 is finally fixing a 20-year-old File Explorer annoyance where folder view settings would randomly reset. The latest Release Preview build introduces consistent folder views that respect user-defined layouts, eliminating the need for registry tweaks. The update also improves File Explorer launch speed and fixes a white flash bug when opening in dark mode with 'This PC' as the default location. These changes are rolling out to regular Windows 11 users starting in May.
