Will this engine COMPETE with Unity?

Sandbox, a spiritual successor to Garry's Mod built on top of Valve's Source 2 engine, is announcing a major shift: developers will soon be able to export standalone games and publish them on Steam royalty-free. Previously, Sandbox worked like a platform (similar to Roblox), but this change opens Source 2 technology to indie developers without requiring direct Valve contacts. The engine supports C#/.NET 10, hot reload, multiplayer out of the box, visual scripting, and shader graph tools. The $20 one-time purchase grants access with no revenue cuts owed to either Facepunch or Valve, making it competitive with Unity, Unreal Engine, and Godot on pricing.
