I would not recommend people to read books about programming. Most books are out of date by the time they hit the shelfs.
Reading blogs and small articles based on what you are inserted in will be more effective. Given it more up to date and less of choire

While always inclined to read, especially works of philosophical or religious significance (As a teenager, I was the only scene kid I knew of who had read <code>the Will to Power</code>), I have found my life extremely enriched by a concurrent interest that has occupied my free time these last few years in pouring over ancient Indian philosophical and religious texts. Like studying logic, there is a basic advantage to working through certain fields of knowledge concurrently when professionally engaged with software development, sure, but unlike Plato’s depictions of Socrates (which tend to impart self-righteousness) or the semi-melancholic Stoics that seemingly infect the mind with the same pitched battle of cognitive dissonance to be witnessed in their writing, India’s rishis have imparted a certain placid calm that I find most helpful when dealing with the many indignities one faces writing code.
Not only do concepts like <code>viragaya</code> or the <code>karma yoga</code> of the Bhagavad Gita helpful in reminding one to keep an even demeanor in frustrating conditions, it helps that it required learning a lot of contextual information completely separate from any I was prior aware of to truly grasp what is being said and what is at play. Unfortunately, the context of ancient India is wholly outside of anything the average American would have even the faintest notion of, meaning untold dozens of hours reading about odds and ends, keeping notes on them and most importantly, spending time mentally digesting all of it thus thinking about something sufficiently complex but not related to code. This lead to my keeping of a personal wiki on the subject, itself requiring I nail down my neovim configuration, after settling on a nested set of directories containing markdown files managed by neovim the most practical note-taking solution for my needs. So even here I am not totally free of code, nor would I want to be given how much better keeping notes in simplified HTML markup works out to be compared to the methods I used in undergrad (I can’t imagine using a word processor again, even with a pistol pressed against my temple).
Point being, reading and more importantly critically analyzing thus more fully comprehending complex information not related to coding has staved off burn-out and kept things fresh for me for a long time now. Maybe reading about the philosophical idealism ( metaphysical position asserting that reality is entirely a mental construct) at play in the Yoga school of orthodox Hindu philosophy isn’t for you, I have truly dry and idiosyncratic tastes, but there is certainly something written at some point in human history that will get those cogs spinning and probably can be freely obtained in PDF or EPUB format using the magic of Google.

I think reading books about programming would not be the best idea, since when it comes to our hand and its our time to start reading, A lot changes might have happened.
