I would rather have use just Cloud, tahn home server.
By my own i have NAS, but using it mainly for home media.
But for backups, file updates, etc. 
I see better to use cloud service.
I understand, i could setup also personal cloud, without requirment of paying for cloud service. But if i do that, it is much more complicated to setup it on every device to work correctly with that cloud.
