Why The Split?

The MeshCore core development team explains an internal split with team member Andy Kirby, who began using Claude Code to vibe-code major components of the MeshCore ecosystem while secretly filing for the MeshCore trademark. The original team, who hand-craft all firmware, discovered the trademark filing and attempted to resolve the dispute but communication broke down. Andy now controls the meshcore.co.uk domain and original Discord server, while the core team has launched meshcore.io as the new official home. The project has grown to 38,000+ nodes and 100,000+ active users since January 2025. The team reaffirms their commitment to human-written software and invites the community to follow them at the new site and Discord.
