While AI is useful for quick fixes and understanding concepts, these communities provide invaluable insights through collective frustrations and wisdom that AI can't yet replicate.

Why Stack Overflow and Reddit Still Beats AI For Your Tech Problems

Perplexity over StackOverflow every time. I don’t have time to intuit over vague questions and sometimes even vaguer answers.
The beauty of StackOverflow before AI search tools came along was that it congealed a lot of software knowledge into one source. Its utility leaned pretty heavily on knowing how to ask the right questions to get the best most useful answers.
But what if you need more than that? Well you can just start another search. Rinse and repeat. The issue is that this has diminishing returns and it diminishes fast.
Yes, AI requires a similar expectation of knowing how to ask the right questions. But you can drill down and explore questions and their answers in ways that you just can’t on community forums like StackOverflow.
Human experience does matter. But so does my time.
So I have to disagree on several levels.

Imagine AI closing your dumb question, down voting it and asking to RTFO and never post again. Also calls you a soy dev.

While I agree that certain tech issues are solved only with real human experience, there is AI for most part. Perplexity, OpenPerplex and <a href="http://Metafog.io" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">Metafog.io</a> seems to help automate with APIs a lot of web research and AI search is new thing. It is so easy for developers now to integrate the power fo web scale search and LLMs in one single API. Life is easier than before… keep going…

I’ve stopped using StackOverflow few months ago and never went back.
Perplexity somehow manages to give me near perfect answers every time.
