I don’t like scrum, and you shouldn’t either.

Why scrum is dumb

The author has no idea what he’s talking about.

Sprints are timeboxes, they serve no other purpose than to create consistency to decrease complexity, teach the team how much they can achieve in the same amount of time and adapt the amount of work next sprint. Sprints also help to have a fixed date for stakeholders to review the increment.
If the author wants a variable amount of time to complete a fixed set of features, they need neither Scrum nor Agile, they just need traditional waterfall project management. The idea of Scrum is to learn what the next most valuable thing (Product increment) to build is based off continuous feedback. What the author is describing is basically just Waterfall: All the requirements are set before the work even begins.

I have neither more time nor energy left to debunk more of this buffoonery turned into an article, that worst of all someone probably got paid to write. I wish the author had at least tried to do some minimal research on the subject matter.

different needs require different solutions. so it’s valid to say both.

The thing actor talks about is not a scrum in its essence, but random corpo implementation of scrum, which is usually stupid indeed

In my experience, when a team is practicing scrum, they come up with their own ideas of what scrum is, which creates friction that leads to these kinds of feelings.
