I totaly agree on the point that PHP has grown tremendously during the past years, and the coming of PHP8 only helps in getting it better and safer. I too feel sad about the way it is seen today.
I must admit that my first impression of it was pretty bad, it felt messy, but it’s not the case anymore. It’s one of my favorite language to dev on.
I hope people would take the time to try it again and see for themselves how good it currently is ! Devs should stay tuned with how everything evolves around the internet, and not be biased about something just because it wasn’t that good before, everything start somewhere.

Loved how he explained the actual reason that PHP is not the loved language anymore. Newer developers don’t see it as so. I think I’m counted as one of the “young people” and I also see how is Laravel far far powerful than most JavaScript backend solutions.
I’d say that we need a rebranding for PHP, maybe a new logo, introducing types, maybe start using some new syntax in some places.
And one of the things that might make a big difference in my opinion can be a universal place for packages. Yes we need to have somewhere to go whenever we need a package, and that place must be organized and modern like.

Interesting article. I begin programming in JS. Now in my first job the app is in pure PHP. I’m liking to learning PHP. Hyperscript seems a good name. The author has a point that I think we can expand to a lot of techs. “Techs are good as how much Hype they have?”
