Why I don't run distributed systems

<p>K8s is not magic, it’s a tool for orchestrating stuff. You still need to know how to operate the tool AND how the stuff you’re orchestrating works. It doesn’t make magic happen and this is something I’ve been victim of myself and seen others fall into the same misconception.</p>
<p>I think for a small project, or something you’re just starting that it is indeed a mistake to start “big” by going with k8s. You don’t know what traffic is going to hit you, if the project is going to succeed and stuff like this. You can write your app and architecture to allow it for scaling but running it on a very minimal setup, like you did. But this lasts only until the load on your components allows you to do so. Then, one day, you may need to scale and k8s may be back into the conversation. But at that point, it’s very unlikely that you’d be still alone working on the project, you probably hired someone else by then ;)</p>
