Chrome has an experimental feature called 'HTML in Canvas' that allows HTML elements to be rendered as part of a canvas layout using a new `layoutsubtree` attribute and `drawElementImage` method. This enables CSS layout algorithms like flexbox and grid inside canvas, improves accessibility, and allows pixel-level manipulation and GPU shader effects on real HTML elements. Practical use cases include game UIs, page transition effects, social share image generation, programmatic video creation, 3D scenes with Three.js, and more. The feature is currently behind an experimental flag in Chrome but can be used today in non-user-facing contexts like video rendering tools.
