Why does Java remain so popular?

Because Java is reliable and stable

Some people love to hate Java due to the following reasons:
<ul>
<li>It used to be slow back in the 90’s.</li>
<li>The language is verbose.</li>
<li>Bloated frameworks.</li>
<li>Over/misuse of design patterns, eg. <code>FooProviderFactoryDecorator</code>.</li>
<li><code>NullPointerException</code> hell.</li>
</ul>
My thoughts:
<ul>
<li>Performance has been historically on par with native code.</li>
<li>Java the language has become a lot less verbose as it evolved, to the point where you find people that don’t see a point in moving to e.g. Kotlin.</li>
<li>The other reasons are not inherent to Java, they’re caused by developer skill issues.</li>
</ul>

Java is still relevant in the industry, big tech pays good money to Java developers.

To me who knows java and just switched to Kotlin for android projects “public void main” isn’t exactly what i would call English but anyways i guess a lot of people prefer it to “Fun”
