As a long-time solo dev, I definitely suffer alone lol. I would challenge the thrust of this article though. It reads less like community/shared interest relationships and more like reciprocal arrangements is what the author is after.
I find that finding community, in general, as an adult is difficult. Even moreso with programming as it’s generally not a thing you get together with friends to do, like playing basketball or painting or poetry or any myriad of other more social interests.
I do think community is important, and I’ve usually found enough of that on reddit and stack overflow (before it became too garbage).
