Generative AI can be applied in two ways: augmentation, which helps with human tasks, and automation, which fully performs human tasks. While AI can automate simple and repetitive tasks, it cannot replicate the humanity and creativity of human work. AI should be seen as a tool that empowers humans rather than replaces them.

This is certainly correct! The phrase “AI will take most of our jobs” is a fatalistic tactic to scare people. AI are tools, and people should learn to utilize them as such… yet, it is easy to tell when someone has used AI to write a blog or even code. Regardless, every job evolves. For example, when there were elevator operators, the position eventually became obsolete and evolved.

I guess we should think of AI as a helpful tool that supports your work, but it still relies on your unique skills and perspective to really shine.

I’ve been engaged in automation processes with LLms, and it is a tedious job to make sure that we get the same result all the time. Determinism, right? So i believe both options mentioned in the article (augmentation and automation) are good us cases, but human monitoring is a must. For now. I myself am not eager to let go of control.
