Great post! But would like to zoom out and share the pros and cons:
On one side you’ve devs and designers who are super passionate about making sure the internet is for everyone. They believe following the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) isn’t just about ticking boxes for the law; it’s a moral thing. They want the internet to be open and welcoming to everyone, no matter how their eyes see color. For these folks, sticking to these guidelines is all about making sure nobody’s left out, pushing for a web that’s as inclusive as possible.
But then, there’s another side to the story. Some designers and developers feel like being super strict with these rules cramps their style and leads to scope creep. Also, having to stick to certain color contrasts and ratios means every website starts to look the same, kind of dull and boring. In the rush to make everything accessible, the web could be losing its spark and creativity.
It’s tricky to balance between - making the web an open place for everyone while still keeping it fresh and innovative. Wdyt?
