I recently started learning game development and i still don’t know on which software i should begin my journey as a beginner.

Which software is beginner friendly for game development? Unity, Unreal or Godot?

if you wanna go professional in the future i recommend you start with unity, it’s a little more difficult but has a huge collection of tutorials too.
If it’s „just“ a hobby for you stick with godot, its simpler and getting better fast.

Definately Godot. It is lightweight and its language GDscript is easy to learn.
The documentation for godot is beginner friendly and easy to understand.

Instead of beginner-friendly, you should look for future-proof. Godot’s learning curve may be better at first than other engines, but it comes at a price. You’ll have to solve more complex problems yourself. On the other hand, Unity may be a little harder to start with, but you have tons of learning materials, tools, and resources at your disposal to solve basically any problem. UE is a little different in that, like Unity, there are a lot of easily accessible tools, learning materials, assets, etc., but it is basically overkill for any team smaller than a medium-sized studio. Unity has much, much better visual scripting solutions than UE and it may be more suitable for indie projects. I would only recommend UE if you want to master some parts of it and build a portfolio. E.g. level or UI design, and then join a larger studio or modding community.

I’d say go with Unreal Engine. It can take a little bit of time to learn but you get so many templates that showcase ways you can use it.
It comes down to what you want to build though. If it’s something very small, go with Godot, it’s a tiny engine and good to get started with. I participated in a game jame using it last year and picked it up relatively quickly.
I’d avoid Unity at all costs, a couple of years ago they tried to charge studios per install and I wouldn’t put it past them to try the same thing again. Garry Newman, the guy behind Gmod and Rust is also very critical of it. I agree when he said Unity always seems very much like a work-in-progress.
Just a note, I’m a bit biased as I’ve been using Unreal Engine since it went free to use years ago.
