Gutenberg 22.9 ships with background gradient support for the Group block, allowing gradients and background images to coexist. The command palette gains organized sections for recent commands and contextual suggestions (experimental). The wordpress/ui package adds an EmptyState component for consistent placeholder UI. Real-time collaboration receives stability fixes including proper block comment syncing and improved error recovery. The experimental Forms block now supports hidden input fields. A total of 131 PRs were merged with 5 first-time contributors.
