Gutenberg 22.8 ships with several notable improvements. Real-time collaboration now shows collaborator text selections (not just cursors), with redesigned presence avatars, peer limits, and disconnection debouncing for stability. A new State dropdown in Global Styles lets editors visually style Button block pseudo-states (Hover, Focus, Active) — the first visual interface for theme.json pseudo selectors. Site logo and favicon management gets a dedicated Design panel screen. The Connectors system gains a registry API (registerConnector/unregisterConnector) for plugin extensibility. Other highlights include AVIF support for client-side uploads, a Command Palette trigger in the admin bar, and the ability to add navigation links directly from the sidebar List View.
