Git 2.53.0 introduces several improvements including geometric repacking support for partial clone repositories, a new 'strip-if-invalid' mode for git-fast-import to preserve valid commit signatures while removing invalid ones, and enhanced git-repo structure command that now reports total inflated and disk sizes of reachable objects with human-friendly units. The geometric repacking fix allows repositories with partial clones to maintain separate promisor packfiles while following a geometric progression, moving this strategy closer to becoming the default.
