Prince Oforh Asiedu shares his journey from internet cafes in Ghana to founding Open Source & Security Africa (OSSAfrica), an OpenSSF Special Interest Group. Repeatedly denied visas to attend major global conferences despite accepted papers and travel sponsorship, he channeled that frustration into building a local, Africa-rooted community. OSSAfrica aims to connect and empower African contributors in open source and security, remove structural barriers, and establish African voices as trusted collaborators in software supply chain security. The community has grown to 90+ Discord members in just a few months and is expanding partnerships across the continent.
